Reflected sunlight bounces down canyon walls, creating a virtual light at the end of the tunnel for hikers wading up the Virgin River in The Narrows.
Narrows Notes: The first shuttle run arrives at Sinawava a bit after sunrise in October, so hikers enter the river when light is still dim in the canyon. I was one of the first four or five hikers, all of us trying to keep ahead of the pack to avoid having people in our photos.
