Mareugheol Fort
Firing port in stone wall at 14th-Century Mareugheol fort, Auvergne. This was one of sixty "strong villages" of Limagne, where local villages built fortifications to protect against marauders. Beginning in the 18th century, these forts were used to store food and wine.
