Royal Light
It's always nice to be able to scout a location in the daylight! I arrived at Cape Royal an hour before sunrise, climbed over the rail, and made my way to the spot I had found the previous day. The sky to the east was nearly solid clouds, with a tiny sliver of clear sky at the horizon. As sunrise approached, the sky to the east was gorgeous, washing the clouds further to the west with alpenglow. Soon enough, the sun popped over the horizon, washing Cape Royal with wonderful warm light for a few seconds. Then the clouds closed in and it was over. Time to pack up and head to Toroweap!
