Monsoon Pools

During the "monsoon season" (mid-July to mid-September) in the US Southwest, frequent rainstorms and thunderstorms bring extra water to the desert, especially the higher elevations such as the North Rim. Hiking back to camp after sunrise at Toroweap, I noticed several large, vernal pools filled with rainwater. It was a relatively still morning, creating beautiful reflections on the smooth surface.
