Horizon Arch is actually on the horizon -- at the top of a very steep climb from a wash. This was supposed to be a 2-mile hike from where the truck was parked, but it was actually 3 miles each way. The final 1.25 miles from the wash to the arch was brutal -- felt like it was straight up and quite a scramble with no trail. When we finally reached the arch, the sun was low and shade had reached the bottom of the arch. We barely had time to shoot before the arch was in shade.
