The North Tower of the Golden Gate Bridge stands in sharp relief against the San Francisco skyline and dawn sky in this view from Marin Headlands. For three days we rose early, drove through the waking city, waited for the Marin Headlands gate to be opened, then dodged clusters of bicyclists speeding through dense fog on the sharply curving, steep, Marin Headlands road only to have sunrise pass with no break in the fog. Finally, on our fourth and last morning in San Francisco we caught a break.
