Sunrise Surprise
On our final night in Joshua Tree NP, the following morning was forecast to be completely cloudy. No point in setting an alarm and getting up early for sunrise. We still awoke fairly early, and casually glanced outside to check conditions. Stars were visible in the sky! We threw on clothes, hopped in the truck, and headed for the nearest spot (Park Boulevard and Big Horn Pass Road) with some Joshua trees near the road. Running across the desert in the dark in search of suitable compositions, I managed to catch an amazing sunrise as it filled the sky with gorgeous color. Sometimes it pays to just show up!
